PTI Demands Hospital Treatment for Imran Khan Amid Health Concerns

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has once again called for its founder, Imran Khan, to be transferred to a hospital for comprehensive medical care, coordinated with his doctors and family members. Speaking at a press conference in Islamabad, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar emphasized that receiving proper medical treatment is a fundamental right of the former prime minister.

He highlighted that it had been acknowledged before the Supreme Court that Imran Khan’s blood pressure had increased and that he was on medication for the condition. However, the party has yet to receive any independent updates regarding his current health status.

The press briefing followed the submission of a report by Adiala jail authorities to the Supreme Court. The report stated that Imran Khan had been treated by leading ophthalmologists from Islamabad and Rawalpindi for an eye ailment, with one eye reportedly nearing normal condition. It also noted that the former premier and his wife had been allowed to meet every Tuesday under jail regulations, with a total of 84 meetings conducted so far. Additionally, lawyer Salman Safdar met Imran Khan on February 10 and April 4, 2026.

Barrister Gohar stressed that the PTI does not politicize the health issues of its founder. He demanded that Imran Khan’s family and medical team be granted access, pointing out that meetings with the former prime minister had been halted for several months. He insisted that Aleema Khan and Imran’s other sisters have the right to visit him, adding, “There is no rule preventing them from speaking outside after meeting him.”

He urged authorities to end what he described as a “game of cat and mouse” and restore access to Imran Khan, which has reportedly been blocked since last October.

Meanwhile, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi voiced serious concerns about Imran Khan’s health, referencing a “worrying” report on his condition. Afridi said he planned to consult with Imran’s personal doctor before announcing the party’s next steps.

The KP chief minister noted that Imran Khan’s blood pressure had always been normal during previous examinations by doctors Faisal and Asim. However, the latest report indicated elevated blood pressure levels. Afridi questioned, “If the official report states Imran Khan’s blood pressure was 140/100, then what might the actual figure be?” He also pointed out that Imran Khan had no prior history of blood pressure issues.
