Mir Hussain Ali, father of the slain 25-year-old businessman Mir Raza Ali, has called for the suspension of Karachi East Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Dr Farrukh Ali along with other officials. He accused them of delaying the investigation and attempting to hide critical evidence related to his son’s murder.
Speaking to the media, Mir Hussain also urged authorities to suspend the Ferozabad station house officer, citing his alleged involvement in mishandling the case. He expressed frustration, stating that the police had manipulated the grieving family during the investigation process.
Mir Raza Ali, an IBA graduate and businessman, was discovered dead in Gulistan-e-Jauhar a day after he disappeared on July 28. While initial police inquiries considered suicide as a possibility, his father strongly maintained that his son was kidnapped, tortured, and murdered.
In a significant development, the family opposed the forensic examination of Mir Raza Ali’s smartwatch by the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA). Their lawyer, Jibran Nasir, had requested that the device be analyzed instead at the Punjab Forensic Science Agency (PFSA) in Lahore. Nasir pointed out that the smartwatch had remained with the former committee head for several days before being handed over to the NCCIA, raising concerns about potential tampering.
The newly formed investigation committee convened at Ferozabad police station on Thursday, where several important decisions were made and responsibilities were assigned to members. After the meeting, the team visited the crime scene to gather further evidence, accompanied by the previous investigating officer to assist in the inquiry. The DIG Karachi Branch, who leads the committee, was briefed and made his first visit to the incident site since taking charge.
Committee members also interviewed nursery staff and collected additional relevant information. Meanwhile, the new team, led by Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Amir Farooqi, sent four separate letters to the NCCIA requesting a forensic examination of the deceased’s smartwatch, as well as access to his social media and other digital accounts.
The investigation team plans to hold a second meeting at Ferozabad police station, after which they will revisit the crime scene to continue their inquiry. These steps mark a fresh phase in the ongoing investigation into Mir Raza Ali’s disappearance and subsequent death.
