Armed Robbers Steal Rs6.5 Million from Edhi Home in Karachi

In a brazen daylight robbery on Friday, four armed assailants stole Rs6.5 million from an Edhi Home located in Karachi’s Sohrab Goth area. The suspects reportedly trailed staff members who had withdrawn the cash from a bank earlier that day to pay employee salaries, as it was payday.

The Edhi administration confirmed that the money was intended for salary distribution. The robbers confronted the employees at the Edhi Centre, holding them at gunpoint before escaping with the entire sum.

Employees described the suspects as wearing helmets, which hindered their identification. Following the incident, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Central Dr. Imran, along with a substantial police force, arrived promptly to initiate an investigation.

Authorities are currently gathering evidence, including CCTV footage from nearby locations, to track the suspects’ movements and determine their escape route. This event has heightened concerns about the security measures in place for transporting large amounts of cash, especially for charitable organizations managing salary payments.

The police have confirmed that the investigation is ongoing as they work to apprehend those responsible.
