The father of Mir Raza Ali, a young businessman, has rejected claims that his son’s death was a suicide, insisting instead that he was murdered. Ali, an IBA graduate, had returned home from his shop on the night of July 28 before leaving again, telling his family he would return within 10 minutes. His body was later discovered in bushes in Block 1 of Gulistan-e-Jauhar.
Hussain Raza, Ali’s father, alleged that his son’s face, body, and fingerprints had been burned and claimed that he was shot from behind. He raised concerns about the medical report, which only mentioned a gunshot wound and omitted any signs of torture, questioning the thoroughness of the examination.
Raza, Ali went missing on July 28, and his body was found a day later. He questioned the whereabouts of his son during the 24-hour gap. Raza also mentioned that Ali had spoken to his sister before leaving home and that a taxi driver reported Ali appeared cheerful and was singing during the ride.
In a significant development, the father appealed to higher authorities for a thorough investigation into the case. Earlier assessments indicated that Ali sustained a gunshot wound to the chest. Preliminary findings suggested that Ali had taken a security guard’s weapon prior to the incident.
Meanwhile, Additional Inspector General of Karachi Police Azad Khan has formed a special three-member team to investigate the death. He has instructed senior officers to conduct a comprehensive inquiry and provide daily progress updates. AIG Khan emphasized the importance of swift and effective action to resolve this high-profile case.
The investigation team is led by Special Investigation Unit SSP Samiullah Soomro, with District East SSP Zubair Nazir Sheikh and East-I Investigation SP Muhammad Usman Saduzai as members. The committee is tasked with examining all aspects of the case, identifying and apprehending those responsible, and utilizing all available resources to ensure justice.
To enhance the probe, the team has been authorized to request assistance from any officer within the Karachi range as needed, underscoring the commitment to a thorough and expedited investigation.
