Sudan Army Drone Strike in Darfur Kills 35 Amid Ongoing Conflict

A recent drone strike carried out by Sudan’s military in the Darfur region resulted in the deaths of 35 individuals, intensifying the humanitarian crisis in the area. This attack is part of a broader conflict that has devastated Sudan, particularly between the army led by General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces commanded by Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo. The use of drones marks a significant escalation in the tactics employed during this violent power struggle.

Since the conflict erupted, tens of thousands of people have lost their lives, with many more displaced and in urgent need of aid. Darfur, historically a conflict-prone region, has seen renewed violence that threatens regional stability and exacerbates the suffering of civilians caught in the crossfire. The drone attack underscores the increasing militarization and technological sophistication of the forces involved.

In a significant development, the ongoing clashes between al-Burhan’s army and Dagalo’s RSF have drawn international concern due to their scale and brutality. The humanitarian impact is profound, with access to medical care and basic necessities severely restricted. This incident highlights the urgent need for diplomatic efforts to halt the violence and address the root causes of Sudan’s prolonged instability.
