Bollywood celebrities have expressed their support and joy following the resignation of Indian Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, a move that came after the successful protests by the youth group Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) advocating for student rights.
Several well-known actors took to social media to hail this outcome as a significant victory for young protesters and Generation Z. Superstar Sonakshi Sinha shared an Instagram video, conveying her delight and suggesting that the young activists might not fully grasp the magnitude of their achievement. Addressing Gen Z directly, she said, “You probably don’t even realise what you have done today.” In the video, she also performed squats and apologized for previously underestimating the younger generation, expressing a wish to be part of Gen Z herself.
Actress Alia Bhatt echoed the sentiment on Instagram, stating, “Gen Z showed up, and the rest is history.” Meanwhile, actor Ibrahim Ali Khan, son of Saif Ali Khan, celebrated the news with a post saying, “Glad the voice was heard. Ho gaya bro.” This phrase appeared to draw inspiration from Salman Khan’s remarks to activist Sonam Wangchuk during his hunger strike.
Sara Ali Khan shared a brief but powerful message on her Instagram story, simply writing “Democracy” accompanied by heart, Indian flag, and folded hands emojis. Veteran actress Shabana Azmi described Pradhan’s resignation as a major victory for students but emphasized that the struggle must continue and resistance should persist.
Actor Prakash Raj congratulated the protesters, Sonam Wangchuk, and others supporting the youth movement, highlighting that this development demonstrated how united citizens could compel governments to heed their demands. Priyanka Chopra also posted about the protests, noting that after 30 days of nationwide demonstrations and Sonam Wangchuk’s 26-day hunger strike, Dharmendra Pradhan stepped down.
Meanwhile, actress Vaani Kapoor paid tribute to the students who kept raising their voices, stating that this moment belonged to those who never gave up and continued questioning authority.
