The Petroleum Division has announced that the current prices of petroleum products will remain stable on July 26 and 27. The price of high-speed diesel will continue at Rs383.46 per litre, while petrol (motor spirit) will be sold at Rs335.18 per litre during this period.
This decision was made because international price indicators are not released over the weekend, leading to a temporary pause in price adjustments. The announcement follows a previous statement issued on July 24, which confirmed that prices set on July 25 would stay effective through July 26 and 27.
Additionally, the price of kerosene oil will also remain fixed at Rs301.14 per litre until July 27. This pause comes after a series of recent price changes under the government’s new policy of daily petroleum price revisions.
Earlier in July, petrol prices increased by Rs3.66 per litre, and high-speed diesel rose by Rs4.80 per litre. On July 18, petrol surged by Rs5.44 per litre while diesel saw a sharp increase of Rs31.05 per litre. Subsequently, on July 21, petrol prices were slightly reduced by Rs0.35 per litre, whereas diesel prices increased by Rs5.71 per litre. The next day witnessed petrol prices climbing by Rs4.93 per litre and diesel by Rs7.15 per litre.
Further hikes followed on July 23, with petrol prices rising by Rs6.39 per litre and diesel by Rs7.83 per litre. On July 24, petrol prices went up by Rs4.40 per litre and diesel by Rs3.62 per litre, reflecting ongoing market volatility before the current stabilization.
