CSS Registration Reaches Five-Year Peak Reflecting Strong Youth Interest

The Federal Public Service Commission (FPSC) has dismissed claims that young Pakistanis are losing enthusiasm for civil service careers, revealing that registrations for the CSS screening test have reached their highest level in five years.

The commission reported that 64,081 candidates enrolled for the CSS screening test, which it considers the most dependable indicator of public interest in joining the civil service. Since passing this screening is mandatory before candidates can sit for the written examination, registration numbers serve as a crucial gauge of the exam’s popularity.

Notably, the FPSC highlighted that the number of registrations for the 2025 CSS exam rose by approximately 3.8 percent compared to 2022. This increase counters recent reports suggesting a decline in youth interest, which the commission criticized for neglecting to consider screening test registration data and omitting information about the Special CSS Examination held in 2023.

In a significant development, the FPSC also emphasized the induction of 141 candidates from minority groups and underrepresented areas into the civil service, stressing the importance of evaluating the long-term effects of such inclusion efforts.

“Civil service continues to be a favored career goal and an aspiration for Pakistan’s youth,” the commission affirmed. It further pledged ongoing collaboration in producing reports grounded in precise statistics and verified information.
