Bannu Operation Continues into Fifth Day with Militant Casualties, Arrests

A focused intelligence-driven operation targeting suspected militants in Bannu district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has extended into its fifth consecutive day as of Tuesday. Law enforcement agencies have successfully demolished several militant hideouts and seized a significant arsenal of weapons during the ongoing crackdown.

District Police Officer Captain (retd) Furqan Bilal confirmed these developments while addressing the media from the site of a recently destroyed hideout belonging to a local militant commander known as Khore. This operation is part of a wider response to an increase in terrorist activities across KP, where militants have frequently attacked security personnel and posts in recent months.

Security forces conducted systematic raids on multiple suspected militant locations throughout the district. These efforts resulted in the recovery of arms, ammunition, and vehicles believed to have been used in hostile operations. DPO Bilal, several militants were killed during intense clashes, and more than 55 individuals have been detained for further questioning. Key militant bases were completely razed to weaken the local insurgent network.

In a significant development, authorities have temporarily suspended mobile and internet services in parts of Bannu to prevent militants from coordinating and to maintain a tactical edge. Police officials emphasized that this communication blackout is a precautionary security measure and assured residents that services will be restored once the situation stabilizes.

Security personnel remain deployed in critical areas of the district to contain any potential escalation of violence while search operations continue. Law enforcement agencies have pledged to persist with the operation until the region is fully cleared of hostile elements.
