Islamabad is preparing to welcome delegations from member states for the 9th Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Ministerial Conference on Women, scheduled for July 12 and 13. The event will convene under the theme “Socio-Economic and Political Empowerment of Women in the OIC Countries: Challenges and Way Forward.”
This significant gathering will assemble ministers responsible for women and family affairs, senior government officials, representatives of OIC institutions, international organizations, and development partners. Together, they will address strategies to promote the socio-economic and political empowerment of women throughout the OIC member countries.
Upon arrival at Islamabad International Airport, the visiting delegations received a warm welcome from Minister of State for Law and Justice Barrister Aqeel Malik, Parliamentary Secretary for Human Rights Saba Sadiq, Parliamentary Secretary for Law and Justice Farah Naz Akbar, and senior officials from the Ministry of Human Rights, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, along with other government representatives.
Pakistan takes pride in hosting this vital conference, demonstrating its strong dedication to the OIC’s goals and its efforts to enhance cooperation among member states in advancing women’s rights, dignity, and empowerment.
In a significant development, Federal Minister for Law, Justice and Human Rights Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar will chair the conference on behalf of Pakistan. As chair, he will guide the proceedings, collaborate with OIC members to encourage dialogue, build consensus, and promote collective initiatives aimed at empowering women across the Muslim world.
Over the two days, participating delegations will engage in high-level discussions to assess progress, share experiences and best practices, and explore practical approaches to strengthen the socio-economic and political status of women in OIC countries.
