Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reaffirmed the federal government’s commitment to the development of Gilgit-Baltistan, emphasizing that the region’s advancement remains a top national priority. Speaking to elected representatives from Gilgit-Baltistan, he praised the region’s steadfast loyalty and dedication to Pakistan’s unity.

He noted that the people of Gilgit-Baltistan have consistently demonstrated their patriotism and support for national cohesion through their actions. The prime minister stressed the importance of the representatives in conveying the public’s expectations and concerns directly to the government.

In a significant development, the government is focusing on enhancing infrastructure, communication networks, energy supply, education, healthcare, tourism, and employment opportunities in the region. Shehbaz Sharif highlighted the potential of Gilgit-Baltistan’s natural resources, tourist sites, and mineral wealth to boost the local economy.

Particular emphasis is being placed on empowering the youth by providing quality education, modern technical training, and respectable job opportunities, enabling them to contribute effectively to national progress. The prime minister announced that four Daanish Schools in Gilgit-Baltistan are nearing completion, with classes expected to begin next year. Additionally, a 100-megawatt solar power project is advancing swiftly.

He instructed that all available resources be mobilized to ensure the timely completion of ongoing development initiatives. The prime minister also underscored the need for strong coordination between federal and local authorities to enhance governance, transparency, and address public issues efficiently.

Welcoming suggestions from the representatives, Shehbaz Sharif expressed confidence that collaborative efforts would propel Gilgit-Baltistan towards new heights of development, prosperity, and sustainable stability.

In line with this, he ordered the formation of a committee led by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar to review the practical proposals submitted by Gilgit-Baltistan Assembly members and prepare a report. The committee also includes Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Amir Muqam and the Prime Minister’s Adviser on Political and Public Affairs Rana Sanaullah.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar, Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Amir Muqam, and Rana Sanaullah.
