Pakistan and Bulgaria convened the sixth round of bilateral political consultations in Islamabad on Tuesday, thoroughly reviewing their comprehensive bilateral relationship and reaffirming their dedication to enhancing cooperation across various sectors.
The Pakistani delegation was led by Additional Secretary (Europe) Ambassador Ayesha Ali, while the Bulgarian team was headed by Ambassador Petko Doykov, Director General for Bilateral Relations at Bulgaria’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During the discussions, both parties examined their bilateral ties and explored opportunities to boost collaboration in key areas such as political engagement, trade and economic cooperation, defense, culture, education, and people-to-people contacts.
Meanwhile, the delegations exchanged perspectives on regional and global developments and considered ways to strengthen cooperation within multilateral forums.
Both sides emphasized their commitment to sustaining regular dialogue and further deepening their bilateral partnership.
Notably, the previous round of political consultations took place in Sofia on April 11, 2023.
In a significant development, Ambassador Petko Doykov also met with Foreign Secretary Amna Baloch. During this meeting, the foreign secretary updated the Bulgarian envoy on important regional issues, highlighting Pakistan’s role in facilitating dialogue between the United States and Iran.
