Explosion Damages Girls’ School Boundary Wall in Bannu District

In Bannu district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, an explosive device detonated outside a private girls’ school, causing significant damage to its boundary wall. The incident took place in the Khairaki area, where the Future Public School was targeted, local police officials.

The front gate of the school also sustained partial damage as the explosive material had been planted against the building’s exterior. Fortunately, the school was empty at the time due to ongoing summer vacations, preventing any injuries among the more than 80 female students enrolled there.

Following the blast, security forces increased their presence throughout the area and launched a search operation to apprehend those responsible. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack so far. Historically, militants, including the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), have targeted girls’ educational institutions in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

In a related development, a suspected quadcopter drone dropped an explosive device on a residential compound in Bajaur district late Wednesday night. The attack occurred in the Shinkot area near Dama Dola, close to the Afghan border, and targeted the home of a local resident named Said Wali.

The blast resulted in the deaths of at least three children, including a five-year-old girl and a 15-year-old boy, with ten others injured. All 13 casualties belonged to the same family. Emergency responders transported the deceased and injured to the District Headquarters Hospital in Khar, the main town of Bajaur. No group has claimed responsibility for this strike either.
