Suspected Drone Strike Kills Three Children, Injures 10 in Bajaur

At least three children, including a five-year-old girl, lost their lives and 10 others were wounded after a suspected quadcopter drone dropped an explosive device on a residential compound in Bajaur district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The incident took place late Wednesday night in the Shinkot area near Dama Dola, close to the Afghan border.

The blast struck the home of a local resident named Said Wali, causing significant damage to parts of the structure. Among the deceased were a five-year-old girl and a 15-year-old boy, with all 13 casualties belonging to the same family, as confirmed by Deputy Superintendent of Police for Mamund Circle, Saidur Rehman.

Emergency responders quickly transported the injured and the deceased to the District Headquarters Hospital in Khar, the main town of Bajaur. No organization has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.

Police teams have been deployed to the scene to gather forensic evidence and investigate the origin of the drone involved in the strike. This incident highlights a growing pattern of low-cost drone usage in the region, which has long been a hotspot for militant activity.

In a significant development, this is the second suspected drone strike in Bajaur within the same week. On Sunday, a similar attack in the Inam Khuro area resulted in the death of a child and injuries to a woman. Earlier, on May 21, two schoolchildren were killed in another suspected drone strike in a hilly part of the district.
