Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has authorized the creation of a high-level Joint Investigation Team (JIT) to thoroughly investigate the legal and administrative issues surrounding the One Constitution Avenue case. This move follows recommendations made by a committee led by the federal law minister, with the Cabinet Division providing the final endorsement for the JIT’s formation.

The investigation team will consist of senior officers at Grade 21 or higher from various federal agencies. Notably, a Grade 21 officer from the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has been appointed as the convener of the JIT. The team will also include representatives from key institutions such as the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP), the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), and the Intelligence Bureau (IB).

The JIT has been tasked with conducting a comprehensive review of all legal and administrative facets related to the One Constitution Avenue matter. The prime minister has directed the team to complete its investigation and submit a detailed report within 60 days.

Responsibility for issuing the official notification for the JIT and providing secretarial support has been assigned to NAB. Furthermore, all federal ministries, divisions, and government departments have been instructed to offer full cooperation to the investigation team throughout the inquiry process.
