Pakistan Summons Afghan Envoy Over Karachi Terrorist Attack

The Foreign Office summoned the Afghan Charge d’Affaires to issue a stern demarche concerning the terrorist assault on a Pakistan Rangers (Sindh) camp in Karachi, which resulted in the deaths of three Rangers personnel. The Afghan envoy was called to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs last night, where the strong protest was formally conveyed.

Simultaneously, Pakistan’s Ambassador Ubaid-ur-Rehman Nizamani delivered a similar demarche to the Afghan Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Kabul. This diplomatic action was prompted by the involvement of Afghan nationals in the attack, including one militant apprehended alive, underscoring the ongoing use of Afghan territory and nationals to orchestrate terrorist activities inside Pakistan.

The attack occurred on Saturday near Gulistan-e-Jauhar Block 6, where militants linked to the Indian proxy group Jamaat ul Ahrar launched a coordinated assault on the Rangers camp. The incident involved intense gunfire and an explosion, prompting an immediate response from police and security forces. As a precaution, roads connecting Mosmiyat Chowrangi to Gulistan-e-Jauhar Block 6, Kamran Chowrangi, and Chaman Iqbal Colony were closed to traffic.

the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the attackers detonated a blast at the camp’s main gate before attempting to breach its perimeter. The Rangers’ swift and vigilant response thwarted the attack, resulting in the elimination of three militants and the capture of one injured assailant, identified as an Afghan national. The ISPR described the assailants as Khwarij affiliated with Jamaat ul Ahrar, condemning the assault as a cowardly act by an Indian proxy organization.

Following the attack, sanitization operations were launched in the area to clear any remaining militants. Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah requested a detailed report from the Sindh Inspector General of Police and Karachi Additional Inspector General, while Sindh Home Minister Zia-ul-Hassan Lanjar also demanded an immediate report from the Karachi AIG.

The ISPR reaffirmed that the ongoing counter-terrorism campaign under the Azm-e-Istehkam initiative would continue vigorously to eradicate foreign-sponsored terrorism from Pakistan. It further stated that retribution operations would be carried out to avenge the martyrdom of the fallen soldiers.

In a significant development, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, extended his deepest condolences to the families of the martyred personnel. He emphasized that their sacrifices strengthen the nation’s resolve to protect Pakistan at all costs.
