China reiterated its support for Pakistan’s mediation efforts aimed at fostering lasting peace and stability in the region during a meeting held on Tuesday. This reaffirmation highlighted the strong diplomatic relationship between the two nations.
Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong met with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Islamabad, where they exchanged views on significant regional and global developments. Both emphasized the importance of sustained diplomatic engagement and resolving conflicts through institutional dialogue and structured negotiations.
During the discussion, Dar provided updates on recent high-level multilateral engagements, including the implementation of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding, which was discussed during talks in Bürgenstock, Switzerland. He also mentioned his visit to Cairo, where he participated in the R-4 Regional Foreign Ministers’ Meeting alongside the foreign ministers of Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and Türkiye. The forum aimed to encourage dialogue, ease tensions, and support peaceful resolutions to regional crises.
Dar expressed gratitude for China’s backing of Pakistan’s diplomatic initiatives and commended China’s contributions to regional and global peace efforts. He referenced President Xi Jinping’s “Four-Point Proposal” and the “China-Pakistan Five-Point Initiative” as key frameworks guiding regional development and conflict resolution.
Ambassador Jiang acknowledged Pakistan’s significant role in regional de-escalation and stability, emphasizing Islamabad’s importance in promoting peace. Both parties agreed that long-term stability relies on ongoing engagement and adherence to international diplomatic norms. Jiang highlighted that China regards its partnership with Pakistan as a vital component of regional security.
In response, Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s dedication to close coordination with China to advance regional peace, stability, and development, while further strengthening the strategic cooperative partnership between the two countries.
