President Asif Ali Zardari has expressed strong support for the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding signed between the United States and Iran, calling it a historic milestone for both the region and the world. He emphasized that this agreement represents a crucial turning point, highlighting that those who bring an end to conflicts are the true heroes. He underscored that war only results in devastation and suffering, while peace remains the essential path toward progress and development.

In his remarks, the president noted that the memorandum could lay the groundwork for enduring peace in the region, which has recently endured significant hardships due to conflict. He pointed out that the tensions had far-reaching consequences, disrupting global energy supplies, trade routes, and economic stability.

Looking ahead, President Zardari expressed hope that such turmoil would not recur and urged countries in the region to redirect their focus toward development, prosperity, and the welfare of their populations. He commended Pakistan’s leadership, including the prime minister, foreign minister, field marshal, and interior minister, for their active support of the diplomatic efforts that led to this agreement.

Notably, he also praised the roles played by US President Donald Trump, Iran’s Supreme Leader, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, and the Iranian foreign minister in advancing the memorandum. Furthermore, he acknowledged the diplomatic contributions of Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, Egypt, Russia, and China, whose efforts helped facilitate dialogue and ease tensions.

President Zardari highlighted Pakistan’s consistent, principled, and balanced stance throughout the crisis, emphasizing its advocacy for negotiation, restraint, and peaceful conflict resolution. He affirmed Pakistan’s ongoing commitment to supporting diplomacy and regional stability.

In a significant development, he called for the full implementation of the agreement, urging all parties to honor their commitments under the memorandum. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s dedication to fostering unity and cooperation in the shared pursuit of peace and prosperity across the region.
