Punjab Introduces Juvenile Driving Permits for Under-18 Youth

The Punjab government has announced a new initiative to issue Juvenile Driving Permits to individuals below the age of 18. This move aims to provide legal recognition for young drivers who require mobility for educational and other essential purposes. The permit will allow underage youth to drive under regulated conditions, ensuring safety and compliance with traffic laws.

In a significant development, this policy addresses the growing need for responsible driving among teenagers, particularly in urban and semi-urban areas where transportation options may be limited. The Juvenile Driving Permit is expected to reduce instances of unlicensed driving and promote road safety awareness among younger drivers. Authorities will likely implement strict guidelines and training requirements before issuing these permits.

Meanwhile, this initiative aligns with broader efforts to modernize traffic management and enhance youth empowerment in Punjab. By formalizing the driving privileges of minors, the government hopes to foster a culture of responsible driving from an early age. The impact of this policy could extend to improved road safety statistics and better regulation of young drivers across the province.
