Senior Sindh Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon announced on Tuesday a significant expansion of Karachi’s public transportation system, with a substantial fleet of double-decker and electric buses scheduled to arrive within the current year.

The new buses will be rolled out in phases and assigned to various routes across the city, aiming to improve urban mobility and address commuting difficulties faced by residents.

Memon emphasized that the Sindh government is swiftly advancing its plan to modernize the public transport network, building on the achievements of the Peoples Bus Service. The introduction of electric and double-decker buses represents a major move toward creating a more efficient, affordable, and environmentally sustainable transit system in Karachi.

He highlighted that electric buses will contribute to lowering environmental pollution while offering passengers cost-effective and comfortable travel options. Additionally, the increased number of double-decker buses will boost the city’s transport capacity and enhance Karachi’s urban landscape and identity.

Memon, these initiatives extend beyond merely increasing bus numbers; they are part of a comprehensive transformation aimed at developing a modern, well-connected Karachi. This new direction focuses on improving public convenience and elevating the overall transport culture in the city.
