In a significant development aimed at modernising law enforcement, Javed Alam Odho, the Inspector General of Police in Sindh, has established a dedicated committee to align the Sindh police force with contemporary technological and operational standards. This initiative reflects a broader effort to equip the police with advanced tools and specialized units to effectively address the challenges of the present era.
The committee is chaired by Additional IG Establishment Training Iqbal Dara and includes key members such as the DIGs of establishment and West Zone, AIGs responsible for state management and finance, as well as the East Zone investigation member. The establishment AIG serves as the committee’s secretary, ensuring coordinated efforts across various departments.
The primary focus of this body is to evaluate and recommend the integration of cutting-edge capabilities within the Sindh police. This includes the formation of artificial intelligence and cybercrime wings, the establishment of drone operation units for enhanced aerial surveillance, and the development of special investigation and security forces. Additionally, the committee aims to create professional media strategic communication teams and other specialized units to strengthen the police’s operational effectiveness and public engagement.
Moreover, the committee will undertake a comprehensive technical review to assess the need for new personnel, particularly IT experts and individuals with specialized professional skills. A structured framework will be devised to facilitate the recruitment or transfer of police officers into these modern policing roles, ensuring that the force is well-prepared to meet evolving security demands.
