President Asif Ali Zardari, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, and Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar expressed strong support on Monday for the recently announced Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the United States and Iran. They described the agreement as a crucial step toward achieving peace and stability across the region.
In his statement, President Zardari welcomed the MoU, expressing hope that it would lead to a final comprehensive agreement and establish a durable foundation for peace in the area. He highlighted Pakistan’s consistent advocacy for dialogue and diplomacy throughout this challenging period.
Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar also warmly received the breakthrough, calling it a testament to persistent diplomatic efforts and the preference for dialogue over confrontation. Dar emphasized Pakistan’s active engagement with all involved parties, underscoring the country’s ongoing promotion of restraint and constructive communication.
Dar further acknowledged the confidence placed in Pakistan by the leadership of both the United States and Iran. He extended gratitude to allied nations including Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Türkiye, and Egypt, as well as to the United Nations and other international stakeholders. He also noted anticipation for the formal signing ceremony set for 19 June in Geneva.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi joined the chorus of praise, recognizing the significance of the development and reaffirming Pakistan’s role in facilitating peace efforts. The officials collectively stressed that the agreement is expected to bring much-needed stability to global markets and economies, especially benefiting developing countries vulnerable to regional instability.
Pakistani leaders reiterated their commitment to multilateralism and the peaceful resolution of conflicts, viewing the MoU as a positive milestone toward broader regional harmony.
