The federal government announced on Friday a reduction in petrol prices by Rs4 per litre, effective nationwide from midnight. The Ministry of Energy’s Petroleum Division issued a notification confirming the new petrol price of Rs377.78 per litre, down from Rs381.78.
Meanwhile, the price of high-speed diesel remains steady at Rs380.78 per litre, with no changes implemented. This updated pricing structure will stay in place until the next scheduled review.
Fuel prices in Pakistan have experienced notable volatility in recent weeks, influenced by shifting global market dynamics. Heightened tensions between the US and Iran, along with concerns over the security of the Strait of Hormuz—a critical global oil transit corridor—have contributed to instability in international energy markets, impacting domestic fuel costs.
In a significant development, the petrol price reduction is anticipated to ease the financial burden on consumers, who have been grappling with rising transportation expenses and overall living costs amid fluctuating energy prices.
