Meta Platforms unveiled a new artificial intelligence agent on Wednesday aimed at helping businesses streamline daily operations across its apps, including WhatsApp, Instagram, and Messenger. This innovative “agentic” tool is capable of managing various tasks such as scheduling appointments, answering customer inquiries, qualifying leads, and even finalizing sales transactions.
In a significant development announced at Meta’s WhatsApp-focused Conversations conference held in London, the product enhances existing business messaging services and signals the company’s deeper entry into the enterprise AI market. Currently, over 1 million businesses utilize earlier chatbot versions on WhatsApp and Messenger, and the upgraded AI agent will soon be available worldwide to companies of all sizes, extending its reach to Instagram as well.
The AI agent offers customization options to align with a company’s unique tone and is designed to escalate more complex issues to human representatives when necessary. Meta has stated that the tool will initially be offered free of charge, with plans to introduce paid subscription models in the future.
Meanwhile, Meta is positioning this AI solution to compete with major players like OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google within the rapidly expanding enterprise AI sector.
