Iranian Missile and Drone Strike Severely Damages Kuwait Airport Terminal

Kuwait International Airport’s Terminal 1 sustained significant damage following a nighttime assault involving missiles and drones attributed to Iran. This attack led to the immediate suspension of all commercial flight operations at the airport.

Kuwaiti officials confirmed that several airport staff members were injured during the strike, though the total number of casualties has not yet been fully disclosed. The incident occurred amid escalating tensions in the region, particularly involving Iran, the United States, and Israel.

The General Directorate of Civil Aviation reported that the passenger terminal was directly targeted, causing extensive destruction to key sections of the building. Thick plumes of smoke were visible rising from the site as emergency responders quickly mobilized to extinguish fires and secure the premises.

All flights have been halted indefinitely, with incoming planes rerouted to nearby regional airports. Authorities have advised travelers to stay in contact with their airlines for the latest updates, as airport operations remain severely disrupted.

In a significant development, this attack on Kuwaiti territory represents a notable escalation in the ongoing regional conflict. It is widely viewed as Iran’s retaliation against countries perceived to support US and Israeli initiatives. Kuwait has strongly condemned the strike, labeling it a breach of its national sovereignty.

Although Iranian officials have not officially claimed responsibility, multiple regional sources have linked the assault to Tehran’s broader campaign targeting Gulf states that host foreign military forces. Kuwaiti air defenses intercepted several incoming projectiles; however, debris and direct impacts inflicted considerable damage on civilian aviation infrastructure.
