The Oil and Gas Development Company (OGDC) has made a notable discovery of oil and gas reserves at the Bobby Deep-1 well located in the Sanghar district of Sindh province. This development marks a positive step forward for Pakistan’s energy sector, promising to enhance the country’s hydrocarbon production capacity.
Currently, the Bobby Deep-1 well is yielding 2,000 barrels of oil per day alongside 1.1 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD) of natural gas. This promising output is expected to contribute significantly to meeting domestic energy needs and easing the financial burden of fuel imports.
Officials have expressed confidence that this discovery will encourage further exploration activities in the surrounding areas, potentially increasing Pakistan’s proven oil and gas reserves. The find is viewed as a critical boost to the nation’s energy self-reliance efforts.
In a significant development for the national economy, the new reserves are anticipated to reduce dependence on costly imported fuels, thereby lowering the overall import bill. OGDC, as the country’s leading exploration and production company, is optimistic that the success at Bobby Deep-1 will lead to additional drilling projects in the region, further strengthening Pakistan’s energy security.
