Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held a significant meeting with European Union representative Kaja Kallas, emphasizing Pakistan’s desire to deepen its multifaceted partnership with the EU. The discussions followed the successful completion of the 8th round of the Pakistan–EU Strategic Dialogue, which both sides viewed positively.
During the talks, Shehbaz Sharif reiterated Islamabad’s dedication to broadening collaboration in critical sectors, especially trade and investment. He highlighted the vital role of the GSP+ scheme in facilitating trade relations between Pakistan and the European Union. Additionally, the meeting involved a thorough exchange of views on regional and international developments.
In a notable development, the Prime Minister expressed gratitude to the European leadership for backing Pakistan’s initiatives aimed at fostering peace in the Gulf region. He pointed out the active involvement of the Deputy Prime Minister and the Field Marshal in these peace efforts, underlining that sustainable peace depends on unified global participation.
Shehbaz Sharif also provided the EU representative with insights into Pakistan’s stance on South Asia and Afghanistan. Furthermore, he extended warm regards to the President of the European Council and the President of the European Commission, reiterating his invitation for them to visit Pakistan to strengthen bilateral ties.
Meanwhile, Kaja Kallas acknowledged Pakistan’s constructive role in promoting regional peace, appreciating the country’s contributions to stability in the area.
