Islamabad Traffic Police have issued a special advisory for commuters in the twin cities in anticipation of disruptions caused by the upcoming Pakistan-Australia ODI cricket series. Temporary traffic diversions will be implemented at various times on key routes including Club Road, Murree Road, Express Highway, and Srinagar Highway to accommodate the movement of the cricket teams.
Travelers are advised to plan their journeys with an additional 20 to 25 minutes to avoid delays. Alternative routes and service roads are recommended during the diversion periods to ease congestion and maintain smoother traffic flow.
To manage the situation effectively, traffic personnel will be stationed at multiple locations to assist commuters and ensure orderly traffic control during the team movements. Meanwhile, citizens are encouraged to stay informed about real-time traffic updates through the Islamabad Traffic Police’s WhatsApp channel, social media accounts, and FM 92.4 radio broadcasts.
In a significant development, these measures come ahead of the first ODI match between Pakistan and Australia, scheduled for May 30 at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. The event is expected to increase traffic volume and security arrangements in the twin cities, necessitating these proactive traffic management steps.
