The primary sacrificial cattle market in Karachi, spanning 1,100 acres near the Northern Bypass, has officially wrapped up its operations following the sale of more than 250,000 animals in preparation for Eid ul Adha. Market officials confirmed that approximately 99% of the livestock brought from across the country were sold, leaving most sections of the market empty.
Since its opening on April 5, the market transformed into a large-scale family event this year. Beyond cattle trading, it featured food streets, play areas for children, and various entertainment zones for families. Enhanced security measures, proper lighting, and public amenities were arranged, drawing large crowds who combined their Eid shopping with enjoying diverse food and refreshments.
Aslam Baloch, overseeing the market administration, noted that the market was now in its closing phase, with nearly 500 animals—including camels, cows, bulls, and goats—still available. He added that several blocks such as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Sindh, Sapphire, Golden, Pahari, Karachi, and General had been completely cleared of livestock.
Administrator Tariq Tanoli expressed satisfaction with the market’s smooth operation, emphasizing the goal of offering optimal facilities to both traders and consumers. He highlighted the market’s role in creating employment opportunities for vendors, hotel owners, and cabin operators. Additionally, electronic, print, digital, and international media contributed positively by showcasing the market’s activities on a global scale.
Meanwhile, traders returning to their hometowns after successful sales extended their gratitude to Karachi’s residents. Tanoli also conveyed early Eid ul Adha greetings to the city’s citizens, marking the conclusion of a prosperous and well-organized market season.
