Twins Seek Series Sweep as Bailey Ober Faces Red Sox in Finale

A compelling pitching duel is set for Sunday’s series finale as the Minnesota Twins attempt to sweep the Boston Red Sox in a three-game series at Fenway Park.

Right-hander Bailey Ober (5-2, 3.63 ERA) will start for Minnesota, coming off a strong run with consecutive wins and three victories in his last four outings. Ober has demonstrated impressive consistency recently, including a complete-game shutout against the Miami Marlins on May 12.

Opposing him is Boston’s right-hander Sonny Gray (5-1, 2.93 ERA), who has been dominant during a three-game winning streak. Gray has allowed only two runs and struck out 17 batters over 17 innings in that span, highlighted by a six-inning, nine-strikeout performance against the Kansas City Royals.

The Twins enter the finale with momentum after winning the first two games of the series, 8-6 and 4-2. Minnesota has secured victories through various approaches, including late offensive rallies and a 12-hit effort in Saturday’s win.

Meanwhile, Boston’s offense continues to struggle, having scored two or fewer runs in 22 games this season, with a 2-20 record in those contests. On Saturday, the Red Sox managed just five hits and squandered a late scoring chance despite loading the bases in the ninth inning.

Ceddanne Rafaela accounted for Boston’s only RBI, while Trevor Larnach led the Twins with a strong 4-for-5 performance at the plate.

The series also saw a brief benches-clearing incident following a collision at the plate between Willson Contreras and Victor Caratini, though both players dismissed any malicious intent.

With both pitchers in excellent form, Sunday’s finale promises a battle of momentum versus control as the Twins pursue a sweep and the Red Sox strive to avoid a series loss.
