PM Shehbaz Sharif Affirms Full Resolve in Operation Ghazab lil-Haq Against Taliban Proxies

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed on Tuesday that Operation Ghazab lil-Haq is being pursued with unwavering determination to safeguard the lives and property of innocent civilians. The operation specifically targets terrorist groups backed by the Afghan Taliban regime, as well as their hideouts and support networks.

The prime minister made these statements during his visit to the Command and Staff College in Quetta, where he addressed both faculty members and student officers. He was accompanied by Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, and Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti.

Operation Ghazab lil-Haq was initiated in February of this year, several months after Pakistan and Afghanistan agreed to a ceasefire in October 2025. This ceasefire followed clashes at various border points triggered by unprovoked firing from the Afghan Taliban regime. Despite numerous rounds of dialogue, a lasting agreement has not been reached due to the Afghan Taliban’s reluctance to act against terrorist groups operating within its borders.

During his address, the prime minister praised the professionalism, operational readiness, and sacrifices of the Pakistan Armed Forces in defending national sovereignty and maintaining peace and stability. He paid homage to the martyrs and highlighted the armed forces’ steadfast dedication to protecting the homeland.

Shehbaz Sharif also reiterated Pakistan’s firm support for the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir (IIOJK) and Palestine, emphasizing the country’s commitment to these causes.

In a significant development, the prime minister referenced Marka-e-Haq, lauding the armed forces’ historic victory under the leadership of Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir. He underscored Pakistan’s responsible and measured response during the 19-day conflict with India from April 22 to May 10, 2025, which was marked by Pakistan’s restraint despite India’s unprovoked aggression. This stance earned recognition from the international community.

Marka-e-Haq pertains to the military engagement wherein Pakistan launched Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos, targeting multiple Indian military installations. During the conflict, Pakistan downed eight Indian fighter jets, including Rafale aircraft, as well as numerous drones. The hostilities concluded after 87 hours with a US-brokered ceasefire on May 10.

Notably, the prime minister acknowledged the presence of military students from allied nations at the Quetta college, highlighting the importance of military diplomacy and cooperation. He emphasized Pakistan’s role as a regional stabilizer contributing to peace, stability, and progress both within the region and beyond.

Upon arrival at the Command and Staff College, PM Shehbaz Sharif was welcomed by Field Marshal Asim Munir. Earlier on the same day, the Chief of Defence Forces visited Quetta to engage with officers and faculty members, and later met troops stationed in Balochistan.

During his address, Field Marshal Munir commended the college’s high standards of training, intellectual rigor, and professionalism, noting that its graduates consistently excel through outstanding performance and dedication.

While interacting with troops deployed in Balochistan, the army chief reviewed the security situation and reaffirmed the armed forces’ commitment, supported by the public, to eliminating terrorism nationwide. He warned that hostile elements attempting to disrupt Pakistan’s progress through proxies and propaganda will ultimately fail due to the resilience of the state and unity among its people.
