Karachi police have taken into custody the wife of Dr Sarang Memon, suspecting her involvement in the doctor’s murder. Dr Memon was fatally shot by unknown assailants on April 21 while traveling with his wife on Sharea Faisal.
The couple was riding in a rickshaw when a white car intercepted them near the Mehran Hotel underpass. A man dressed in shalwar kameez exited the vehicle, forced Dr Memon out at gunpoint, and shot him three times. The doctor later died from his injuries.
Following the incident, an FIR was registered at Artillery Maidan Police Station based on a complaint filed by Dr Memon’s brother, Sarmad Hussain. Investigations were launched from multiple angles, which eventually led to suspicion falling on Romina, the deceased’s wife. Technical evidence and further inquiries reportedly linked her to the crime.
In a significant development, police have also apprehended one of Romina’s alleged accomplices. The rented car used in the murder has been recovered as part of the ongoing investigation. Dr Sarang Memon, originally from Badin, was employed at a private hospital in Gulistan-e-Jauhar at the time of his death.
