In a significant development, the Punjab Police have escalated security protocols across major urban centers, including Lahore, under the directive of Inspector General of Police Abdul Karim. This move aims to bolster surveillance and safeguard public spaces amid growing concerns over safety in the province.

The IG has specifically instructed police authorities to enhance monitoring efforts in crowded markets, sensitive areas, business districts, and along vital highways. These locations have been identified as critical points requiring increased vigilance to prevent any untoward incidents. Senior police officers, including District Police Officers (DPOs), have been urged to take an active role by personally supervising security arrangements on the ground.

Moreover, the directive emphasizes strengthening community relations by encouraging police personnel to engage more closely with the public. Officers are being asked to listen attentively to citizens’ concerns, particularly during gatherings at mosques following Friday prayers, and to work towards resolving issues at the grassroots level. This approach aims to foster trust and cooperation between law enforcement and local communities.

Additionally, senior officials have been tasked with improving doorstep policing initiatives and ensuring that public complaints are addressed promptly and effectively. These comprehensive measures reflect Punjab Police’s commitment to maintaining law and order while enhancing the overall sense of security for residents throughout the province.
