Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif conducted a one-day visit to Gilgit-Baltistan, engaging in crucial discussions with the region’s senior political figures. During his trip, he held separate meetings with the Governor and the Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan, focusing on ongoing development efforts and the security landscape.

The meetings concentrated on evaluating the progress of various infrastructure and connectivity projects, alongside public welfare programs designed to enhance the quality of life in this mountainous territory. The leadership also provided updates on the current law and order conditions, highlighting security challenges and the initiatives underway to maintain peace and stability in the strategically significant region.

In a significant development, the prime minister expressed satisfaction with the advancement of development activities and reaffirmed the federal government’s dedication to promoting sustained socio-economic growth in Gilgit-Baltistan. He emphasized the importance of completing projects on schedule and improving coordination between federal and regional authorities to effectively address the needs of the local population.

Meanwhile, regional leaders underscored critical issues such as infrastructure deficiencies and the necessity for increased resources to support development planning and service delivery, particularly in remote areas. This visit aligns with Islamabad’s broader strategy to fast-track development in northern Pakistan, with Gilgit-Baltistan playing a pivotal role due to its tourism prospects, geographic importance, and involvement in regional connectivity initiatives.
