Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Ahad Cheema recently met with Bolormaa Amgaabazar, the World Bank’s Country Director for Pakistan, to evaluate ongoing collaboration and set priorities within the Country Partnership Framework (CPF).

During their discussions, both parties reviewed the CPF’s implementation and the advancement toward its development objectives. Cheema emphasized that both federal and provincial governments are fully committed to ensuring the framework’s effective execution and meeting its deadlines.

Amgaabazar acknowledged the government’s efforts to stabilize the economy and recognized the reforms underway to enhance institutional capacity. Cheema reaffirmed the government’s dedication to policy consistency and the continuation of structural reforms.

Social sector priorities were also addressed, with a particular focus on programs targeting child malnutrition. The officials stressed the need to expand these initiatives to foster improved long-term human development outcomes.

Climate resilience remained a central topic, with Cheema highlighting Pakistan’s ongoing collaboration with the World Bank to mitigate the effects of floods and other climate-related challenges. He also noted the government’s commitment to transitioning toward a cleaner, more sustainable energy system.

Additionally, the conversation covered strategies to enhance private sector productivity and promote inclusive investment, which are considered essential for sustained economic growth.

Cheema expressed gratitude for the World Bank Group’s continued support, describing it as crucial to Pakistan’s development goals. He reiterated the government’s commitment to consistent policies and the effective implementation of reforms.

In response, Amgaabazar affirmed the World Bank’s ongoing partnership with Pakistan and pledged continued support to help the country achieve its long-term development ambitions.
