Cambridge Probes Alleged Leak of AS-Level Maths Paper in Pakistan

Cambridge International Education (CIE) has initiated an inquiry following reports that the Advanced Subsidiary (AS) Mathematics Paper 1 was allegedly leaked hours before the scheduled exam in Pakistan. This incident has reignited worries about exam security amid the ongoing May-June examination period.

The CIE office in Pakistan stated that it is aware of the reports concerning the potential leak and is conducting a thorough investigation. They assured that further updates would be provided to examination centres if necessary, either during or after the conclusion of the June 2026 exam series.

Specifically, the alleged leak involves the AS Mathematics Paper 1 for the June 2026 session, officially known as Pure Mathematics 1 (9707), which was set to be held on Wednesday afternoon. This development has caused anxiety among students and parents currently participating in the exams, prompting questions about the fairness and meritocracy of the Cambridge assessment system.

Notably, this is not the first time such an incident has occurred. In the previous year’s June 2025 session, Cambridge confirmed that a limited number of questions from three different papers had been leaked shortly before the exams. The Exam Security Team at that time identified minor breaches, including one question from AS and A Level Mathematics Paper 12, parts of two questions in Paper 42, and a portion of one question in Computer Science Paper 22.

Despite these breaches, the organisation emphasized that there was no indication that entire papers had been distributed prior to the examinations.
