The United States is set to release a limited edition of commemorative passports featuring President Donald Trump as part of the celebrations for the nation’s 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. These special passports will be available starting this summer through the Washington Passport Agency and will be distributed while supplies last.
Visuals released by the White House and the State Department reveal that Trump’s portrait will be integrated into the passport design, accompanied by elements symbolizing the Declaration of Independence and the American flag. The design also includes the president’s signature rendered in gold. Additionally, one of the pages will showcase an illustration of the Founding Fathers signing the Declaration of Independence.
Officials emphasized that these commemorative passports are part of a wider array of nationwide events planned for July to honor this historic milestone. A White House spokesperson highlighted that the new patriotic passport design offers Americans a unique way to participate in the country’s 250th birthday celebrations.
Traditionally, US passports have featured historical imagery such as the Apollo 11 Moon landing and iconic national symbols like the Statue of Liberty. This redesign marks a notable shift by incorporating the image of a sitting president into the passport.
In a significant development, this passport initiative follows other efforts by the Trump administration to associate the president’s image and branding with official programs linked to the anniversary. Earlier this year, national park passes were issued bearing Trump’s image alongside that of George Washington. Furthermore, draft designs for a commemorative $1 coin featuring Trump’s profile have also been unveiled.
The semiquincentennial anniversary will be commemorated with events across the United States throughout July, marking 250 years since the Declaration of Independence was signed.
