In a significant development for Pakistan’s entertainment sector, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz officially inaugurated the Punjab Film City in Lahore. This ambitious project is designed to revitalize the regional cinema industry, which has faced numerous challenges in recent years. The film city is expected to provide state-of-the-art facilities for filmmakers, including studios, production houses, and post-production services, fostering a creative environment for local talent.

The establishment of Punjab Film City marks a strategic effort by the provincial government to stimulate economic growth through cultural investment. By attracting filmmakers and production companies, the initiative aims to generate employment and promote Lahore as a hub for film production in South Asia. This move also aligns with broader efforts to preserve and enhance Pakistan’s cinematic heritage while encouraging modern storytelling techniques.

Meanwhile, industry experts anticipate that the film city will help curb the outflow of creative professionals seeking opportunities abroad by offering competitive infrastructure at home. The project is poised to increase the volume and quality of Pakistani films, potentially boosting exports and tourism linked to the entertainment sector. Overall, the launch of Punjab Film City represents a promising step toward strengthening Pakistan’s film industry and cultural economy.
