Pogacar Clinches Third Consecutive Liège-Bastogne-Liège Victory

World champion Tadej Pogacar delivered a commanding display on Sunday, securing his third consecutive Liège-Bastogne-Liège title with a powerful surge on the race’s final climb. The Slovenian cyclist completed the 259.5-kilometre course in 5 hours, 50 minutes, and 28 seconds, marking his 13th Monument victory and extending his impressive season following earlier triumphs at the Tour of Flanders and Milan-San Remo.

The race intensified when Pogacar launched a decisive attack on the Côte de la Redoute. French newcomer Paul Seixas responded strongly, managing to stay on the wheel of the four-time Tour de France champion and remaining with him for nearly 20 kilometres as the leading group fragmented behind them.

In a significant development, Pogacar made his winning move on the Côte de la Roche-aux-Faucons with fewer than 14 kilometres to go. He accelerated away from Seixas and the rest, riding solo to the finish line without looking back.

Seixas, aiming to become the first French winner of the race since 1980, finished 45 seconds behind after an impressive debut performance. Belgium’s Remco Evenepoel secured third place by winning the sprint from the chasing group.

This victory brings Pogacar just one Liège-Bastogne-Liège title shy of Eddy Merckx’s record of five wins, set between 1969 and 1975, highlighting the Slovenian’s growing legacy in the sport.
