Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has given the green light for spectators to attend the final match of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), resolving doubts about fan participation in the tournament’s concluding game.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi announced the decision, revealing that he had formally sought permission to allow fans into the stadium amid concerns related to austerity measures and nationwide efforts to reduce fuel consumption.

Initially, the prime minister was hesitant to permit crowd attendance due to ongoing cost-cutting initiatives. However, after receiving appeals from the PSL franchise owners, he reconsidered and approved the presence of supporters for the final fixture.

“I requested the prime minister to permit spectators in the stadiums,” Naqvi stated in a social media update. “Following the franchise owners’ appeal, he has kindly authorized fan attendance for the PSL final.”

This decision specifically applies to the final of the league’s 11th season, which is set to take place on May 3 at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium.

Naqvi expressed gratitude to the prime minister for facilitating this move, emphasizing that it will enable cricket enthusiasts to experience the much-anticipated final live.

The PSL, Pakistan’s leading Twenty20 cricket competition, showcases both domestic and international talent and enjoys widespread popularity throughout the country.
