Trump Asserts US Control Over Strait of Hormuz Amid Iran Leadership Rift

Former US President Donald Trump declared that Iran is currently grappling with internal leadership conflicts and asserted that the United States maintains complete control over the Strait of Hormuz. In a statement posted on his social media platform, Trump described a power struggle between Iran’s “hardliners,” who he said are suffering significant battlefield losses, and the “moderates,” whom he characterized as gaining influence despite not being truly moderate.

Trump emphasized that the US Navy effectively controls the strategic waterway, stating that no vessel can enter or exit the Strait without American approval. He described the area as “sealed up tight” until Iran agrees to a deal, underscoring the importance of this critical global oil transit route.

Notably, Trump did not provide evidence to substantiate his claim of total US control over the Strait, and there was no immediate reaction from Iranian officials. The remarks come amid escalating regional tensions, with the Strait of Hormuz remaining a vital chokepoint for international energy supplies.

In a related post, Trump announced he had instructed the US Navy to take lethal action against any small boats deploying mines in the Strait’s waters. He claimed that Iran’s naval ships had been sunk and ordered an intensification of mine-clearing operations, tripling their current efforts to ensure the waterway remains secure.

These statements reflect ongoing concerns about maritime security in the region and the strategic importance of the Strait of Hormuz in global energy markets.
