In a tragic incident in Balochistan’s Khuzdar district, two police personnel, including a woman constable, lost their lives while three others sustained injuries during a militant attack. The confrontation took place in Bajoi, a remote mountainous region approximately 35 kilometers from Khuzdar city.
The police team was conducting search operations following a robbery complaint when militants opened fire. The Additional Superintendent of Police, Abdul Qudus, explained that the team had to search homes, which is why the woman constable, Malik Naz Baloch, was accompanying them. Alongside her, Head Constable Sami Ullah, also a resident of Khuzdar district, was killed in the exchange of gunfire.
Three other officers were wounded during the clash. No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack, which occurred amid an ongoing insurgency by Baloch separatist groups that has escalated in recent years.
Security forces have launched a search operation in the challenging terrain of the area to apprehend the militants involved.
In a significant development, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif honored Malik Naz for her courage, describing her as an example of bravery in defending the nation. He prayed for her posthumous promotion and extended condolences to her family, emphasizing the nation’s pride in its police force. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to eradicating terrorism completely.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also paid tribute to the fallen officers, calling Malik Naz a “brave daughter of Balochistan” who made the ultimate sacrifice. He assured that the perpetrators would be brought to justice and expressed sympathy for the families of both Malik Naz and Sami Ullah.
