The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) parliamentary board recently convened a crucial meeting to discuss the upcoming general elections in Gilgit-Baltistan. This significant gathering was chaired by Nawaz Sharif, the party’s senior leader and former Prime Minister. Upon his arrival, Nawaz Sharif was warmly received by key figures including Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, and Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, highlighting the importance of the event within the party’s leadership.

During the meeting, the parliamentary board focused on finalizing the list of candidates who will contest the Gilgit-Baltistan elections. This process involved senior party members such as Ahsan Iqbal, Khawaja Asif, Saad Rafique, along with the PML-N’s Gilgit-Baltistan president. Their collective aim is to ensure a strong representation in the region, which holds strategic political significance for the party.

Meanwhile, the Punjab Assembly has shown its support for the welfare initiatives launched by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz by passing a resolution with a majority vote. The resolution commends the swift implementation of numerous public welfare projects initiated shortly after Maryam Nawaz assumed office. Notably, it highlights the establishment and active functioning of the Virtual Women Police Station and the Child Safety Center, both operating under the supervision of the Additional Inspector General.

In a notable development, the resolution also mentions that the impact of these welfare programs has gained recognition beyond national borders, being acknowledged at the United Nations level. This international acknowledgment underscores the significance and effectiveness of the initiatives led by CM Maryam Nawaz, reflecting positively on the PML-N’s governance approach.
