Two Federal Constabulary (FC) personnel lost their lives after unidentified militants opened fire on them in Bannu’s Kuram Garhi area on Sunday. Meanwhile, a separate overnight explosion demolished a vacant police post, officials confirmed.

The two FC members were reportedly shopping in a local market under the jurisdiction of Cantt police station when attackers on a motorcycle targeted them and then fled the scene. The deceased have been identified as Havaldar Rokhniyaz and Sepoy Rehmanullah, both assigned to the FC Daryoba MI platoon.

Following the attack, security forces and police quickly sealed off the area and launched a search operation to apprehend the assailants. Additional police units were deployed, and all available resources are being utilized to ensure the swift arrest of those responsible.

In a related incident late Saturday night, militants detonated explosives at the Shamuzai police post within the Township police station limits. The blast completely destroyed the building, which had been vacant since 2022. Fortunately, no casualties were reported.

Law enforcement agencies secured the blast site and began collecting evidence as part of an ongoing investigation. In response to the worsening security situation, a Qaumi Jirga has called for a shutter-down and wheel-jam strike on April 20.
