A tragic incident at a marble mine in Mardan took an astonishing turn when a worker, presumed dead, was discovered alive after more than two weeks trapped beneath the debris. The collapse occurred on March 31 in the Nangabad area of Rustam tehsil, following a blast that triggered a devastating landslide. Initially, the community mourned the loss of nine workers, including Abdul Wahab, whose family had already conducted funeral rites and accepted his death.

However, in a remarkable and almost unbelievable development, a voice was heard from beneath the rubble 17 days after the disaster. Rescue teams intensified their efforts and managed to locate Abdul Wahab, who had survived the ordeal against all odds. He was immediately transported to Mardan Medical Complex, where he is currently receiving medical care. This extraordinary survival story has brought a wave of relief and hope to his family and the local community.

Meanwhile, in Mohmand district’s Ahmad Khor area, the news of Abdul Wahab’s survival sent shockwaves through his family, who had been grieving his presumed death for over two weeks. The initial shock quickly gave way to disbelief and ultimately joy, as the family struggled to come to terms with the miraculous news. The transformation from mourning to celebration has deeply affected the local residents, who had witnessed the somber funeral proceedings and accepted the tragedy.

In a significant development, this incident highlights both the dangers faced by workers in the mining industry and the resilience of the human spirit in the face of adversity. The rescue operation, which lasted for days, underscores the dedication of emergency teams in the region. Abdul Wahab’s survival not only changes the fate of his family but also serves as a poignant reminder of hope amid despair in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
