NADRA Introduces Mobile Biometric Verification for Punjab Arms Licences

The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has rolled out a new mobile biometric verification system specifically for arms licence applications in Punjab. This initiative aims to simplify and expedite the verification process by enabling on-the-spot biometric checks, reducing the need for applicants to visit offices multiple times. The move is expected to improve the accuracy of identity verification and curb fraudulent applications, thereby strengthening regulatory oversight.

Punjab, being one of the most populous provinces in Pakistan, has a significant number of arms licence holders. The introduction of mobile biometric verification is a timely response to the increasing demand for efficient and secure licensing procedures. This technology leverages NADRA’s extensive biometric database, ensuring that only eligible individuals receive licences after thorough identity confirmation. It also supports law enforcement agencies by maintaining a reliable record of licensed firearms owners.

In a significant development for public safety and administrative efficiency, this system is anticipated to reduce processing times and enhance transparency in the arms licensing process. The adoption of mobile biometric verification aligns with broader government efforts to digitize services and improve governance through technology. Ultimately, this initiative could serve as a model for other provinces seeking to modernize their arms licensing frameworks while ensuring compliance with legal standards.
