Karachi Kings have secured the services of England’s dynamic opener Jason Roy for the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) 11 season. Roy will be joining the team as a replacement for Muhammad Waseem. Renowned for his aggressive batting style and extensive T20 experience, Roy has been a formidable overseas player in the PSL, consistently delivering powerful performances.
His inclusion is expected to strengthen the Kings’ top order as the tournament progresses into its crucial stages. Meanwhile, the team management is in the process of finalizing a replacement for Khuzaima bin Tanveer, with an official announcement anticipated soon.
In related news, Karachi Kings pacer Abbas Afridi has attributed his ongoing development to persistent effort, family support, and a positive team atmosphere as he prepares for a strong showing in PSL 11. Reflecting on his journey from youth cricket to the professional level, Afridi emphasized the value of dedication and resilience.
“I have been involved in cricket for many years, including the Under-19 level, where I performed well to reach this point. I continue to work hard every day and am thankful to Allah for my progress,” he stated.
Notably, Afridi highlighted the significant role of his uncle, former Pakistan fast bowler Umar Gul, in his growth. He shared how Gul’s guidance and discipline have been instrumental, mentioning that despite occasional criticism, the advice has helped him improve his bowling strategies.
“Having a Test cricketer in the family is a great advantage; you learn a lot but also face strict feedback. After my last match, when I didn’t perform well, he pointed out areas for improvement and coached me on adapting to different situations. I frequently receive calls from him with valuable tips,” Afridi added.
The young fast bowler expressed enthusiasm about the opportunity to learn from seasoned international players within the Karachi Kings squad, aiming to enhance his skills further during the tournament.
