A high-level Pakistani delegation, headed by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Field Marshal Asim Munir, has arrived in Tehran as part of a significant diplomatic initiative aimed at facilitating communication between the United States and Iran. This visit underscores Pakistan’s ongoing role in backchannel diplomacy, seeking to reduce tensions in the volatile Middle East region.

Notably, the delegation is tasked with delivering messages from the US to Iranian officials, reflecting Islamabad’s position as a crucial intermediary in the delicate dialogue between Washington and Tehran. This diplomatic engagement comes amid heightened geopolitical strains, where direct communication channels remain limited.

Upon arrival, the Pakistani team was formally welcomed in Tehran, where Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi is scheduled to engage in discussions with the visitors. These talks are expected to focus on advancing the dialogue and exploring avenues for easing regional conflicts through diplomatic means.

Meanwhile, Iranian authorities have confirmed that exchanges with the United States continue to be conducted via Pakistani channels, highlighting Islamabad’s strategic role in maintaining indirect communication lines. This visit further demonstrates Pakistan’s active involvement in facilitating dialogue between the two nations during a period of increased international tension.
