Traffic Sergeant Rescues Man Hanging from Karachi Flyover in Viral Video

In a dramatic rescue captured on video and widely circulated on social media, a traffic police sergeant in Karachi saved a man who had jumped from a bridge in the Liaquatabad area. The man, reportedly struggling with drug addiction, climbed over the safety barrier of the Liaquatabad flyover and ended up dangerously suspended from overhead wires.

Alerted by bystanders, a traffic officer quickly responded to the emergency. He halted a passenger bus passing beneath the flyover, climbed onto its roof, and reached the man hanging precariously. The officer then safely pulled him down, preventing what could have been a fatal fall.

The video also reveals some onlookers urging the officer to punish the man for his actions, but the sergeant maintained composure and handled the situation with professionalism and restraint.

Meanwhile, the city faced another alarming event the previous day when a group of armed robbers reportedly set up a checkpoint on the Shah Faisal Colony–Korangi bridge. Residents described how 12 to 15 suspects, armed with Kalashnikovs and other weapons, blocked the bridge, looted commuters at gunpoint, and assaulted those who resisted. The criminals allegedly used barriers to stop vehicles before fleeing towards a nearby settlement.

Police, however, offered a different account, stating that three suspects attempted to stop a vehicle late at night. The driver escaped by driving against traffic, causing panic and a traffic jam. Authorities said they arrived quickly, fired warning shots into the air, but the suspects managed to evade capture. Officials also noted that no formal robbery complaints had been filed.

These incidents have intensified public concern over the rising street crime in Karachi, prompting calls from residents for urgent security improvements to ensure safety on the city’s roads and bridges.
