Polling for the Gilgit Baltistan Assembly election is set for June 7, 2026, following an official announcement by the regional election authority. The Chief Election Commissioner of Gilgit Baltistan, Raja Shahbaz Khan, unveiled the detailed election schedule.

Candidates will be able to submit their nomination papers between April 16 and April 20. The preliminary list of candidates is scheduled to be published on April 21, with the scrutiny process concluding by April 28. Appeals regarding nomination papers must be resolved by May 9, and candidates have until May 11 to withdraw their nominations.

Electoral symbols will be assigned to candidates on May 12. On the same day, polling will be conducted across all 24 constituencies of the assembly. The Chief Election Commissioner emphasized that all necessary arrangements have been completed to ensure a smooth and peaceful election process, with support from all relevant departments.

Originally, the general elections were planned for January 24, 2026. However, they were postponed indefinitely shortly after the announcement due to severe weather conditions in the region. The previous Gilgit Baltistan Assembly elections took place on November 15, 2020.
